Question

Do I need a visa?

Answer

Canadian passport holders get visa-free entry to the Philippines for stays up to 30 days—no advance visa required.

Question

What flights should I book?

Answer

There are no nonstop flights from Vancouver to Cebu. The most common routes connect through Manila (MNL) or Asian hubs like Tokyo, Seoul, or Hong Kong before continuing to Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB). Total travel time is typically 18–24 hours depending on layover. Philippine Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Korean Air, and Japan Airlines are popular options.

Question

Are there hotel room blocks or recommendations?

Answer

Special guest rates are available for our guests at the Shangri-La Cebu. Please reach out for further details or refer to Neil and Stephanie's wedding upon booking. Staying on resort is NOT mandatory. Feel free to explore the many beautiful options on the island including air bnb villas.

Question

What's the time difference?

Answer

The Philippines is 15–16 hours ahead of Vancouver (depending on daylight saving time).

Question

What's the dress code?

Answer

Cebu is warm and humid year-round — lightweight, breathable fabrics are strongly recommended. Filipino formal wear like the barong is always an elegant and appreciated choice for men.

Answer

The Philippine peso (PHP). Major credit cards are accepted at hotels and larger establishments, but cash is handy for tips, local transport, and markets. ATMs are widely available in Cebu City and Mactan.

Answer

Canada recommends routine vaccines plus hepatitis A and typhoid for the Philippines.
