How We Met

April 16th, 2011

I was 18 years old and a freshman at Rutgers-New Brunswick and I never thought Rutgersfest was where I was going to meet the man I was going to marry. My cousin Nicki brought Neil with her to Rutgers for Rutgersfest and he showed up in my dorm room. Neil and I started talking and clicked right away. We split up at the concert itself but found ourselves stranded on College Ave without a bus to get us back to the Livingston campus at the end of the night. We ended up walking all the way back to Livi from College Ave and stayed behind our friends and talked the entire walk home. We bonded on our mutual hatred for tomatoes. It was freezing that night and Neil gave me his hoodie and took off his long sleeve shirt and gave it to my sister to keep her warm. I thought to myself, " Wow, what a gentleman." I ended up keeping his hoodie by "accident", remembering he told me it was his favorite hoodie. I knew we had to see each other again in order for me to give it back to him. Let me just say... it worked like a charm and here I am about to marry this man and I couldn't be more excited.

Our First Date

May 5th, 2011

We got all dressed up and went to Max Brenner's in Philadelphia. After a nervous first date, we walked throughout philly and ended up at love park. We took our first picture together. Rocket power's "Woogity Woogity Woogity" was exchanged and it was epic.

The Proposal

October 13th, 2018

Neil tricked me into thinking it was a holiday work party and had all of these secret arrangements happening around me. I kind of figured out the day the proposal was happening and went and got my hair and makeup done in the anticipation of getting a ring. We get to the hotel and Neil tells me his coworker and girlfriend are downstairs and wanted to get drinks before the work party. I was skeptical but went along with it. We get downstairs only to actually find his coworker and coworker's girlfriend at the bar in the hotel... I thought to myself, " OMG, Did I misread all the cues and are we REALLY just going to a work party!?" We leave the hotel and pull up in front of the AMOR sculpture in Philly and I see a security guard preventing people from taking pictures at the sculpture. We walk towards it and I see a painting underneath the sculpture with a girl wearing the exact outfit (color and all) and a man down on one knee dressed in Neil's outfit. I was like wait what!? and then Neil got down on one knee and made me the happiest girl in the world. Shortly after, our closest friends and family came out from hiding and we celebrated and popped champagne.
