Rebecca was working as an intern at a campus ministry they both attended. One night, Rebecca got up to give the announcements, as she normally did. When she had finished reading through the usual announcements, someone on staff handed her a sealed note. A little taken aback, she grabbed the note, announced to the room "this wasn't planned" and nervously laughed it off. The note read: "Will you go to spring formal with me? - Neo" She nervously accepted, but was horrified by the public scene. She wouldn't tell Neo this for a while, though.. Some years passed and they both remained very close friends, but never pursued anything romantically. Almost five years later, they reconnected more personally when Neo began working at that same campus ministry Rebecca had worked at so long ago. They spent a lot of time together and their friendship deepened. One day, a mutual friend asked Rebecca, "Have you ever considered dating Neo?" She answered, honestly, that she had not. But something changed that moment for Rebecca, she suddenly began to see Neo in new light. And she slowly began to realize that he embodied so much of what she had always wanted in a partner. Four weeks later, Neo asked her out, and the rest is history. When Neo asked Rebecca to marry him, he took into account that she might not be so keen to a public spectacle and asked her in private, after a romantic candlelit dinner.
