Things To Do

Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History

10th St. & Constitution Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20560
, (202) 633-1000

The museums in DC are awesome... kids (and parents) will enjoy the gigantic animals and activities at the Natural History museum. Always a top fave. (For a more artsy vibe, we also highly recommend the Sackler galleries for a journey through Asia, or the National Gallery of Art).

The National Air and Space Museum of the Smithsonian Institution

655 Jefferson Drive Southwest, Washington, DC 20565

There's also another branch (Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center) in Chantilly, VA. By Sep 2021, both should be re-opened in September. It's got IMAX and virtual reality simulators too... We've always loved exploring the skies, whether through watching the 2017 total solar eclipse at the Chabot Space and Science Center, or racking up frequent flyer mileage :p

Zenebech Restaurant

2420 18th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
, (202) 667-4700

Rama and I love grabbing Ethopian food - in California, we often go over the bridge to Oakland for a cozy meal. This spot is supposed to be great!

Maketto

1351 H Street Northeast, Washington, DC 20002
, (202) 838-9972

We love south east flavors... These days in San Francisco, if we order in food, Burmese is a regular consideration in our food rotation. This Cambodian/Thai restaurant sounds terrific!

Zaytinya

701 9th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001
, (202) 638-0800

Love coming here when we visit DC and catch up with family and friends (good for groups). Delicious food against a sleek and modern design aesthetic. Great vegetarian options!

So... all of these food recs look amazing...

Just pick off this list, and let us know which ones you check out!

Great Falls Park

There's great natural beauty in the area. If it's not too hot, we'd recommend exploring Great Falls Park, Rock Creek Park, or any others nearby. This year, we happened to be in VA during my birthday. Rama kicked it off by planning a small hike in Great Falls - mom, dad, and us had a ton of fun (Woodland and River Trail Loop).

Luray Caverns

Luray Caverns Service Road, Luray, VA 22835

If you're planning on coming in early or staying a few days longer, look it up. Neha must have visited Luray more than half a dozen times growing up... it's quite the experience (it is the largest caverns in the eastern United States!).

Eastern Market

701 Pennsylvania Avenue Southeast, Washington, DC 20003
, (202) 637-7000

Neha and Rama looove farmer's markets... who doesn't? Eastern has it's own urban vibe, and definitely offers more than your usual market. You can shop for artisanal cheeses, fresh pasta, specialty goods, pastries, and flowers.

MGM Casino

MGM Casino, Fort Washington, MD 20745

Yes, you can gamble... Neha and Rama are big blackjack fans. Either way, we wish you a ton of luck, and will gracefully take 20% of winnings as commission. Thanks!

Galleria at Tysons II

Galleria at Tysons II, Tysons, VA 22102

If you need to get your shop on, go here...

Georgetown

Washington, DC 20007

There is so much to do in Georgetown... check it out: https://www.georgetowndc.com/guide/25-things-to-do-in-georgetown

Reston Town Center

Many many moons ago, Neha used to learn ice skating in Reston Town Center... Now, it has transformed into so much more! "A Dynamic Urban Destination Full of Possibilities."
