A Wedding Mass is a Catholic church service, which is broken into three sections: 1. The Liturgy of the Word (readings from the Bible, with some sung responses between) 2. The Sacrament of Marriage (the couple exchanges vows and rings) 3. The Liturgy of the Eucharist (all are invited to walk up for *communion) *Catholics believe that through transubstantiation, the bread and wine for communion become the Body and Blood of Christ. It is for that reason that only baptized Catholics who have received First Eucharist can take communion. This is very important to the couple and their families. However, we still wish to welcome everyone forward at this time to receive a blessing. Just cross your arms over your chest when you are invited forward to signify that you would like a blessing.
Programs will be provided that will walk you through the Mass, step by step, instructing you to sit, stand, or kneel as you are able. Music for the hymns, specially chosen by the couple, will also be in the program. Please join in singing along to celebrate the couple on this special day. Every voice offers a joyful noise and is welcome!
Please dress conservatively for the Wedding Mass and Mass reception in the church. This means modest necklines and dress/pant lengths as well as some sort of sleeve, sweater, or jacket.
Please arrive 20 minutes ahead to find your seats. Live musicians will serenade you as you wait for the wedding Mass to begin!
Absolutely! Children are the best part of weddings.
Your invitation will indicate if you were given a plus-one.
There is plenty of parking available at the church, including a gravel lot located off Madison Avenue behind the church and a paved lot located off of High School Road (across from Safeway). The paved lot runs parallel to our Catholic school, so be sure to follow signs that point to the church (brown building with the cross on top). When entering the parking area from Madison Avenue, there are a handful of paved regular and handicap spots immediately in front of the church. Please leave these spots open for those with mobility issues.
