Welcome to our story.

Drew University, also known as "The Forest," was not always our first choice of college in Madison, NJ. Coming from two different states, New York and New Jersey, we met at Drew in August of 2011. We were looking for a new beginning in a new place, but not necessarily something romantic. Over the next two years, we grew closer through shared interests, which included Kuumba, the Pan-African organization, Ubuntu, the Pan-African choir, and late nights talking in the residence halls. After going on an "official" first date in May 2013, we realized that there might be something there. Finding joy in exploring which New Jersey and Maryland diners have the best breakfast, rewatching and getting captivated by Kerry Washington in Scandal and of course, Viola Davis in How to Get Away with Murder, we came to understand that we found joy in the small pleasures in life and each other. Learning each other's love languages and where to place items in the cabinets so that each of us can reach, continues to be a life full of love, laughter, and understanding. Throughout the past ten years, with various jobs and locations including, Madison, Maryland, Princeton, Morristown, Lawrenceville, Ewing, and Somerville, our relationship has grown stronger and we've developed into each other's life partners. After getting engaged in April 2022, we have continued to strengthen our relationship with each other. We remain thankful to God and "the Forest" for bringing us together.
