How We Met

1/1/2017

The Chronicles_of_Neath In October of 2016, Natalie was interviewed in Philadelphia for a flight attendant position for Frontier Airlines. It was a dream job of hers. She was offered the position right away and was asked to start training at the end of October. However, the training dates were on the same dates as the Cielo Magico Balloon Festival in Mexico. She was already committed to working the festival and asked to attend a later training. She was put in the January class. In November of 2016, Heath went to a hiring event in Denver for a flight attendant position for Frontier Airlines. It was a random job his mom found in the newspaper, and her subtle way of telling him to get a job. He was offered the position right away and was asked to start training in February. He heard some of the others ask to be in an earlier training class and decided he would like to start making money sooner as well. He was given the last available spot in the January class. Natalie and Heath spent their days in December studying home-made flash cards and memorizing the safety demonstration announcement for the first test of flight attendant training. On January 1st, 2017, both Natalie and Heath woke up nervous wrecks for the first day of training and their first test. Heath was the first to arrive to the training building because he had his car with him. He thought it would be best to tell no one about it. Natalie walked with the other trainees. Heath sat in the back row of the test room and started to settle in when someone caught his attention across the room. The most stunningly beautiful brunette wearing glasses had just walked into the room. He silently prayed she would sit next to him, but she sat on the opposite side of the room, too anxious about the test to even bother with anyone. The tests were handed out and not knowing what fate had in store for Natalie and Heath, they started on their new adventure.

How We Met Continued

When Heath finished his written portion, he was ecstatic to see the cute brunette in glasses had finished at the same time as well. The two started walking together to the verbal portion of the test and introduced themselves. Natalie said she was too nervous to be the first one to start the verbal portion, so Heath being the gentleman he is offered to go first. Natalie, being the strong independent woman she is, refused the offer and went first. This only made Heath more curious about Natalie. Heath spent the next week of training trying to set up opportunities to have a conversation with Natalie. He tried sitting on the same side of the room she sat the day before, but to his frustration she seemed fickle about which side of the room she sat. In addition to her spontaneous choice of seat selection, she was always with another classmate named Michele who was also from New Jersey. Natalie and Michele were inseparable. Finally, during a door drill, Heath approached the two in line and inserted himself between them. “You two are inseparable, I hope it’s ok that I stand between you two.” He awkwardly stated. They did not ask him to leave and started to converse with him. After a short while, Natalie and Michele started to make plans to go to Walmart for groceries. Heath finally saw his opportunity to get Natalie’s number and told the two that he had a car and would be more than happy to take them shopping.

How We Met Finale

Now that Heath had Natalie’s number, he put a lot of thought into what he would send in the first text message to her. His genius plan? To send a message that seemed like it should have been sent to both Natalie and Michele, then pretend like it was an accident that the message only went to Natalie and then start a real conversation with her. Not one of his better ideas, but he was super nervous. Heath and Natalie texted for the next couple of days and Heath invited her to study with him for the big Airplane Emergency Equipment test. They spent an entire Sunday studying and quizzing each other with home-made flash cards. They both did so well on the test, that they started to study together for the rest of training. They both passed training with flying colors. Natalie and Heath continued to talk to each other after training. They planned several trips together and enjoyed every moment together. After two months, Heath transferred bases to Trenton/Philadelphia. The two have been inseparable ever since. They met in Colorado, had their first date in Colorado, and decided to be an official couple in Colorado. Heath thought it would be a good idea to propose in Colorado as well. They have traveled the world together: Backpacked mountains, slept in deserts, seen wild elephants, walked through rice fields, hiked on a dragon’s back, stayed in rooms with views of the tallest building in the world. The best part is they are not even close to being done. Natalie and Heath plan to live together happily ever after.
