(Alison) It was love at first sight! Just kidding, no it wasn’t. This was a total set up. Our good friend Ben insisted for months that we meet, and so one Sunday afternoon he introduced us while 100 of our church friends watched us struggle to have a conversation. I was so impressed by Neal and I really wanted to like him, but after a couple of dates I decided that we didn’t have chemistry. I called him to break things off; I thought it was over. Later that same night I was so surprised to see him show up at one of my church events! We talked a little bit, and something changed; I couldn’t get Neal out of my head. I told my mom I made a mistake and that I actually had a huge crush on Neal; my mom told me I was toxic. (Neal) It was love at first sight! Just kidding. But not really. I knew right away that Alison was different; I was immediately drawn to her and excited to get to know her better. So I was disappointed when she called it off after just a few dates; I figured it was over. But I decided to go to one of her church events that evening anyways. I wouldn't mind seeing more of Alison! What did I have to lose? We talked a little bit, and I started to get the feeling that maybe it wasn't over after all. But who knew what was going on in her head. Did she actually like me? Or was she just being nice? Could I ask her out again right after she broke it off? Over the next few weeks we continued to see each other at church; I waited to see if she dropped any hankies. After a month or so I had gathered enough data; I asked her out again and she said yes! It quickly became clear that we are both exactly who the other needs. Who would have guessed?! (Ben says that he did). After just a couple months of dating I told Alison I loved her and we decided we couldn’t wait to be together, which brings us to this last minute, short notice wedding (sorry about that!).
