The bride and groom will be propitiated as Gods as they perform wedding rituals in Tam-Brahm style that feature, among other things, the groom going on a make believe pilgrimage to Kashi, the couple being rocked on a decorated oonjal or swing and the tying of the sacred wedding thread (thaali) around the bride's neck as she's welcomed into the groom's family
