On a drive-in movie date, Welo surprised Jada with this video.
October 2021, we met for the first time at the Polynesian Cultural Center in La'ie, Hawai'i after Jada mistakenly approached Nawelo thinking he was a lost tourist looking for the next show to catch. To her surprise, he was just hired as a new worker, right next to her village in the center. From there, a sweet friendship formed. We hung out and got to know each other during the 6 months leading up to Nawelo's mission. Later on, Jada left for her mission. Nawelo serving in Baltimore, Maryland and Jada in Hermosillo, Mexico, our hearts turned to Jesus Christ which led to a deeper love for each other. We wrote each other and supported one another through our different mission experiences every week for 2 years. After our missions, we knew we wanted to pursue a relationship with marriage as the end goal. In July of this past year, Nawelo had the opportunity to visit Jada and her family in Washougal, Washington, where they spent quality time cruising the Caribbean and exploring the Pacific Northwest together. Before this trip, we had settled on getting married in July 2025, but once finally together, it became so clear that our eternity needed to come even sooner. Jada moved back to Hawai'i in August where she had the opportunity to meet Nawelo's family. Our engagement became official on August 24, 2024 during a beautiful sunrise hike on Kahekili Ridge. We have since begun school at Brigham Young University-Hawai'i and spend our free time going to the beach, hiking, watching movies, cooking, working out, playing basketball, spending time at the temple, serving, and being with family. We are looking forward to our wedding at the end of the year and cannot wait to spend our special day with you!
