The Sangeet party is a pre-wedding festive dance party & celebration. The event will be held in an indoor-outdoor venue and Indian buffet-style dinner will be provided. Our DJ will be spinning Bollywood and Bhangra tunes, so bring your dance shoes! Attire: Women should wear sparkly and colorful dresses OR an Indian "lengha" or "anarkali" dress. Men should wear smart-casual or summer cocktail attire OR an Indian "kurta-pajama" or “sherwani” outfit. The Baraat is a traditional wedding procession. The groom along with this family and friends have a festive procession towards the wedding venue. This event will be held on Illinois Street, next to the Intercontinental Hotel. The wedding procession is festive and includes dancing & music. Please join the groom to make this a joyful event!

The Anand Karj is a traditional Sikh religious wedding ceremony that immediately follows the Baraat. The ceremony will be held in the Intercontinental Ballroom. Sikh religious venues require guests to cover their heads and to sit on the floor, as a sign of respect. Head coverings will be provided, along with a combination of comfortable floor seating and chairs for those who do not wish to sit on the floor. Schedule: 10:30am - 11:30am: Baraat, Wedding Procession 11:30am - 12:30pm: Anand Karj, Religious Wedding Ceremony 12:30pm - 2pm: Lunch (no alcohol or meat to be served) Women should wear long dresses covering their legs or a traditional Indian “Anarkali” or “Punjabi suit.” Women should plan to bring a shawl or scarf to cover their heads. You are welcome to wear sleeveless tops. Men should wear a suit, slacks and dress shirts with a blazer being optional or a traditional Indian “kurta-pajama” or “sherwani” outfit. Scarves will be provided for head coverings.
