Our Love Story

How It All Started

Aaron and Nathalie met during the start of college in August of 2014. On the first day of classes, trying not to be her usual shy self, Nathalie decided to make an effort and talk to two classmates. The group of soon-to-be friends, realized they were all studying the same major! Aaron was one of those students and his first impression of Nathalie was the “stereotypical popular cheerleader”, little did he know how far off he was. The following day Nathalie was early to class and assumed Aaron would sit next to her since she didn't know anyone else. Instead Aaron walked right past her, as if not even noticing her! After class, Nathalie happened to spot Aaron in the aisles of the bookstore. Nathalie, still feeling very petty after the classroom incident, ignored Aaron. The next day was the school organization fair. Though it sounded fun, Nathalie didn't want to go alone. After much internal conflict, Nathalie figured she would go check out the fair because there was a waffle truck, enough said! Nathalie was out in the hot sun waiting on line for what felt like hours. Suddenly, in the crowd just passing by her -again- was Aaron. Nathalie, really wanting to stay and enjoy the college atmosphere of the fair, decided to leave the long line, giving up her waffle spot to go and talk to Aaron. She would never regret it.

The Proposal

A Blurry Night

Aaron and Nathalie hadn’t gone on a date for almost a year. Through Covid, they had just been happy spending time together at home. Aaron’s brother Ryan mentioned that Aaron was going on “dates” with the bros and leaving poor Nathalie at home, so a date was planned. They had made blueberry scones for breakfast, cozied up on the couch with their tea, and watched a movie. After breakfast they played video games and then freshened up to go out for dinner at a nice restaurant. At the restaurant, Aaron realized his drink was a little too strong, and switched drinks with Nathalie as he had to drive home that night. People who know Nathalie, know how much of a light weight she is. Later during the dinner Aaron had asked Nathalie how she would have felt with a dinner proposal, as he had done similarly on other occasions. She blatantly said “No! I don’t want that at all!” and turned that idea down quickly. When it was time to leave, Nathalie found out how strong that drink was as she stumbled out of the restaurant. They got in the car and drove to her parent’s house. It was only then, when Aaron parked the car, that he found the courage to gently hold on to Nathalie’s hand and start talking about all the love and experiences they shared throughout the years together as a couple. Aaron had brought the ring, and wasn’t going to let that restaurant “rejection” turn him down. It was then that Nathalie began to cry like a baby as Aaron pulled out the ring and asked Nathalie to marry him. Her words were “Give me that ring!” It was a blurry night afterwards.
