If you like historic homes and design, you'll love Rainbow Row, a series of thirteen brightly-colored houses lining the waterfront. Take a stroll past one of Charleston's most photographed spots and learn more about some of Charleston's oldest homes!
King Street is divided into "Upper King Street" and "Lower King Street." Lower King is where you will find all of the local shopping along with house hold names. Upper King is where most of the restaurants and nightlife. Restaurants located downtown: Halls Chophouse is the best restaurant in the whole state! It is a traditional steak house but has a fun atmosphere and is good for drinks later in the night. They have the best martinis. They also host a "gospel brunch" with live music and amazing southern brunch! The Ordinary is really good if you like raw bar and seafood. It has a smaller menu, so check it out before you go! The owner and execute chef is Mike Lata who catered Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds wedding at Boone Hall Husk has great southern cuisine! They also have a cool side bar that is fun to go to for cocktails. The Darling is great for oysters and cocktails! 167 Raw is a TINY place but have the best lobster roll, oysters, and fish tacos.
If you want to get in some time at the beach, look no further than Sullivan's Island. After a day of sunning, wander into town to grab some food at Poe’s Tavern, known for their burgers, or The Obstinate Daughter, a Restoration Hardware-styled brunch and lunch spot that has some of Charleston’s best mussels. For a history lesson, explore Fort Moultrie National Monument, built during the Civil War to protect the city from invasion. Sullivans Island is more of a locals beach than the other two beach towns (Isle of Palms & Folly Beach).
Isle of Palms is another great beach town located in Charleston. There are two great bars here that have local music and outdoor volleyball. The Windjammer & the Dinghy are both tested and approved by yours truly! The Windjammer was both of our favorites the patio opens up to the beach and outdoor volleyball. There is also a great restaurant called Coda de Pesca for good Seafood.
We're biased and think that Boone Hall is the most beautiful plantation in Charleston but if time allows, we'd also definitely recommend checking out other popular attractions including Magnolia Plantation, Middleton Place and Drayton Hall.
Take a picture in front of the Pineapple Fountain! One of the most photographed fountains in the Carolinas, the multi-layered pineapple flanks the palmetto-lined boardwalk along the Cooper River and Atlantic Ocean. For the best photo ops, get there just before sunrise or sunset. The surrounding park has running trails and oak-lined pathways for those trying to walk off the pralines they bought at the City Market.
One of Charleston’s oldest landmarks, the 200-year-old Historic City Market is filled with local vendors selling everything from She-Crab soup mixes to Charleston's iconic sweetgrass baskets.
Cocktail club is really fun on Thursday nights when they have live music. They also have a little rooftop patio and is a great place for craft cocktails. Starts Rooftop can get a bit crazy especially Saturday nights, but a fun rooftop for drinks or going out. Vendue Rooftop closes at 12pm so it is more of a pre-dinner drink spot. It has great views of the harbor. Market Pavilion is a little more boujee and great for drinks. Great for sunsets! Blind Tiger has a pub feeling has a great big outdoor patio! We loved this spot when we visited. Vintage is a cute wine and cheese place with live music on most weekends. If you are looking for clubs or more nightlife Commodore, Deco, Replucic or Trio will be your spots!
