Like most people now days, Nathaniel and I met online, not through Tinder or Farmers only but through facebook dating. He sent the first message and I got to pick the first date :) After having been on a enough first dates that turned into duds, I thought I would spice things up a bit and suggest a date through the aisles of my happy place, hobby lobby! Any man that will put up with this as a first date automatically gets a special place in my heart.
When it came to the engagement, a lot of ideas popped into my head. I was going to propose in one of those aisles at Hobby Lobby. I would have her friends and family in another aisle and pop the question while looking at Christmas decorations. I decided against this, and instead, went with the game "Shut Your Mouth". For those of you who don't know this game, a person picks a card and has to get their team to guess the word or phrase. It sounds simple, but you have to have this contraption in your mouth that makes it difficult to speak. After a few rounds I got up and asked her to marry me. Eventually I took the contraption out of my mouth, got down on one knee, and asked her to be my wife. She didn't think I was serious, but did say yes. I made sure to ask her mom, dad, brother Bob, Madi, Bryson, and her friend Jes, for permission to ask before I proposed.
