Trinity and Nate’s story begins with some spontaneity. In the summer of 2022, Trinity's friend from college, Kaylee, reached out sharing that the summer camp she worked at was short a counselor. She asked if there was any possibility of Trinity joining the employees on short notice. Despite having only six days to prepare, and her car scheduled for repairs, Trinity agreed. Her dad offered to drive her to camp, but getting home was still an issue. Kaylee assured her it was no problem—her friend, Sarah, and Sarah's little brother, Nate, would give her a ride home. Trinity arrived to Camp Zacchaeus as a counselor and had an unforgettable week. It was one of the first times she felt surrounded by so many young adults who shared her faith. One person, in particular, stood out. Though not naturally outgoing, Nate managed to catch Trinity’s attention with his incredible way with kids, his eagerness to help wherever needed, and his visible devotion to his faith. Although he thought Trin was kind and fun to be around, Nate was under the impression that Trinity was older than him and way out of his league. Trinity’s interest only grew as she learned more about him—especially after he casually impressed her with a backflip. By the end of camp, Trinity couldn’t stop thinking about Nate, but making the first move wasn’t her style. Instead, she did what she does best—she borderline stalked him on social media and added him. This was her attempt at shooting her shot, and the ball was officially in his court. Months later, in October, Nate finally reached out, initially intending to check in as friends. However, their conversations quickly took off, leading to a six-hour-and-49-minute phone call… conversation was just so easy, and time got away. Eventually, eager to see him again, Trinity invited Nate to a Thanksgiving football game at IUP. Nate accepted, and from then on, they made time for each other whenever possible. Their connection deepened as they introduced each other to their families, spent the holidays together, and became each other’s constant. It helps to have such welcoming families. Trinity loved getting to know Nate’s family, especially because she finally got to be in the position of a big sister! Nate also loved growing his relationship with Trin’s family. He now is a snowboarding enthusiast and looks forward to the winter season just as much as the rest of the Boland’s. Both Trinity and Nate were never the cheesy type, but their relationship was a true testament to “when you know, you know.” Time flew by, and on May 26, 2024, Nate proposed. Since then, life has been a whirlwind of planning and joy. The couple graduated together in December 2024—Nate in Civil Engineering and Trinity in Family and Consumer Science Education—and have been learning and growing together. Now, as they fix up their first home and navigate their new careers, they’re more excited than ever to start this next chapter together.
