Mass will be about an hour and a half.
Traditional attire for the Latin Mass is dresses for ladies, suits for men. Further, in order to respect the solemn liturgy, we ask that women please have their dresses at an appropriate length and their necklines not too revealing.
There is an elevator at street level along Lynch St. There is a door under the stairs that leads to it.
There will be about three hours between Mass and the start of the reception. Forest Park is close to St. Francis de Sales and is a beautiful, large park. There is also a nice coffee shop close to the church called "Park Avenue Coffee." The Art Museum is free and open 10am-5pm.
Communion will be received kneeling at the altar rail and on the tongue. Communion is for practicing Catholics not in a state of mortal sin. If you are not Catholic, or not prepared for Holy Communion, you are welcome to remain in your pew in prayer or come to the altar rail with your arms crossed over your chest to receive a blessing.
Don't worry! For many people, the first time at a Latin Mass can be confusing. Don't worry about having to follow every step of the priest. Just focus on the beauty of the liturgy and music, and pray along in your mind. You can follow the people around you for when to sit and stand.
Yes, appetizers will start a 6pm with dinner following soon after.
No, but if you need a hotel, we recommend getting one in Chesterfield, which is about halfway between the church and the reception venue.
