During our reception, we will be participating in several beloved family traditions from the bride’s side, and we hope you’ll enjoy joining in the fun! The first tradition involves the bride’s veil being removed and replaced by a small cap called a Czypek. This symbolizes that the bride is no longer single and is now ready to embrace the responsibilities of marriage. At the same time, the groom will be given a bright, funny hat to wear. As happy music plays, guests are encouraged to clap along and celebrate this joyous moment. Next, the bride will be escorted onto the dance floor for her Apron Dance—a lively and fun tradition that we invite everyone to participate in! The bride’s aunt will wear an apron with a plate at the bottom, and guests are encouraged to bring money to toss into the apron for the chance to dance with the new bride. This is a special way to show your support for the couple as they begin their new life together. The plate in the apron represents the hope that so much money will be collected that it cracks—bringing good luck to the newlyweds! (Pro Tip: Bring silver dollars to help crack the plate towards the end of the dance!) The Apron Dance will conclude with the groom tossing his wallet into the apron and whisking his new bride away! We can’t wait to share these joyous traditions with you—don’t forget to bring your coins and bills for the fun!
