Instead of those ideas, the two people in this short story ended up being at the same place at the same time, surrounded by thousands of strangers and the sounds of loud engines racing around a track and smashing into each other. The two of them have only sent a few messages back and forth to each other before this day began. The two very busy people found some time to enjoy the annual demo derby that is filled with excitement and always ends with a spectacular fireworks show. Discovering each other were at the same event at the same time, they began chatting by sending messages back and forth. He was curious about her, and she didn't know much about him. Questions and answers were exchanged on this unforgettable day between the two nearly strangers. To add some fun to the conversation, they agreed to make bets on which derby car would win the heat. The agreed wager was the loser would buy the winner a beer. What was unknown to the winner, was when the beer was to be bought. It turned out, it was right then. The two people that were unfamiliar with each other met face to face for the first time as she bought him a beer. A short and what seemed like a bit of an awkward conversation left them going back to their seats that were at opposite sides of the stadium. Neither one of them knew that was going to be the beginning of something special. As the races continued, more conversation was happening between the two. The main event before the firework show was about to begin. Demolition Derby with RV's! They each picked their contender. The engines started, the RV's started driving into the barricaded arena, the event was about to begin. Both of them had an equal chance of winning the last wager of the evening. His choice of contenders pulls in and gets ready to wreak havoc. Her pick of the RVs, well, it didn't start and didn't enter the arena on its own power. Needless to say, this was another loss for Jennifer and a great win for Nathan. The wager was, if she lost, she would accompany Nathan on a real date. An unplanned night had a great ending. A few days later, the two newly acquainted people shared details and stories for hours on end to one another for their first date. They got to know each other deeply and quickly as each date that followed the previous one was filled with even more conversation, laughter and truly desiring each other's company.
