FAQs

Question

Where is Camp Solomon Schechter?

Answer

Camp Solomon Schechter is located in Tumwater, about an hour south of Seattle. Traveling by car is recommended and carpooling is encouraged. Free day and overnight parking will be available within the campgrounds. (Note that some map services have camp's address listed as Olympia, not Tumwater. Both are correct).

Question

Can I bring outside food to camp?

Answer

No, outside food is not permitted. Camp is a Kosher and peanut and tree nut-free facility. Please do not bring any food item with you. There will be plenty of food and snacks available throughout the weekend.

Question

What are the sleeping accommodations like?

Answer

Guests are invited to stay overnight at camp and will be assigned to sleep in either a cabin or a yurt. We will do our best to ensure you are bunked with friends and/or family. Both the cabins and the yurts have twin sized bunk beds, and everyone will be able to have a bottom bunk (pro tip for couples: push two bunk beds together to create a larger bed). Each cabin has two toilets and two showers, and the yurts have two shared communal style bathrooms equipped with multiple toilets and shower stalls. The cabins are climate controlled and the yurts have both fans and heaters.

Question

If I'm staying overnight, what do I need to bring?

Answer

Camp will be providing towels and bedding for guests who are traveling from out-of-town. We ask our local family and friends who are able to please bring your own towels and bedding. This includes twin-sized sheets, sleeping bags/blankets, and pillows. Please indicate on your RSVP if you are planning to bring your own items.

Question

Aside from bedding and towels, what else should I pack if I'm staying overnight?

Answer

Once we receive RSVPs, detailed suggested packing lists will be emailed to all applicable guests.
