"The Lord works in mysterious and unexpected ways!" - This commonly known phrase is basically the summary of their story! Nathan became friends with Alex (Grace's older brother) doing Catholic music ministry. Alex, Raquel and the girlies, Grace, and their friend, Bri, were sharing a home at the time. Just when Nathan needed a new place to live, a room in the Cuellar home opened up, and he joined the household. Grace and Nathan got to know each other serving their church and parish in the music ministry, as well as at other worship events. For the first year they were clearly just friends, buddies, pals, chums….and nothing more. In fact, she thought Nathan was a little dorky, and that he was just a "bro" to her. Nathan absolutely loved Grace's voice and her friendship, but also wasn't romantically attracted to her. He thought she was a little shy and quiet, and was content with her addressing him as "Hey bro!”. It just so happened that both were deep in prayer for their future spouse at this time. Nathan started praying his first-ever 54-day novena for his future wife, and Grace recommitted herself to praying for her future husband. It was shortly after Easter of 2025 that our Lord opened both of their eyes, and their friendship was elevated! Nathan returned from a short retreat at a monastery where he was praying for clarity about his future wife. When he returned, he noticed a change in Grace, who was suddenly much more friendly and wanted to spend more time with him. After about a week of this, his eyes were fully open towards her, seeing her in a new way...only to learn that Grace's eyes were opened towards him in the same powerful way, completely unbeknownst to him, and only about 2 weeks prior! They shared their new feelings with each other and chose to pray a 9-day novena (classic Catholic) to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and it became very clear they wanted to start walking intentionally with each other. He asked her to join him in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament at their church, and there he asked her to enter into a committed relationship with him. While dating, Nathan discovered that Grace is very silly and weird. He found himself laughing a lot at her jokes and especially at the weird faces she makes at him on purpose. To Nathan’s dismay, Grace isn’t just goofy and a trickster, but is also a night owl and spontaneous, while he is a more time conscious, punctual, tidy, and a go to bed early type of guy. And to Grace’s dismay she would hear “Just doing a time check…” from Nathan’s mouth about 20 times a day as well as “I am so tired” at 9:00pm, lol! While dating, Grace had some very difficult symptom days with her Chronic Lyme Disease and, despite how hard it got, Nathan would do anything for her to help her. During this time of learning about each other, Nathan didn’t just fall in love with Grace, but also with her dog Sadie Mae. As their similarities and differences became clear, so did the realization that they were simply and divinely made for each other, and desired to spend the rest of their lives together. They are both currently the directors of Providence Mission, a lay Catholic apostolate dedicated to bringing Jesus to everyone they meet with praise and worship, prayer, and witness to the gospel. They are truly blessed and grateful to be able to continue this after joining together in the holy sacrament of matrimony! Only God knows the beauty of what is in store for their future together as they serve as a married couple!
