Caitlin and I first met in 2015 while studying 3D animation in Texas A&M’s department of Visualization (or Viz, for short). During that semester I, Nathan, would send and then immediately unsend a Facebook friend request to Caitlin (which Caitlin would totally notice). Thus began our love story which, in its early days, would continue to be fumbled by my special combination of overzealousness and timidity. Over the next few years we would come to understand each other better and grow closer. We’d spend a semester abroad together in Bonn, Germany, doing more travel than actual study. Then a couple of years pining back and forth for each other in College Station. I would learn how to be myself around Caitlin. Caitlin would learn, I imagine, that Nathan could be pretty kind and funny when he’d actually just relax. And when I was relaxed, I would learn that she was a patient, compassionate, inspired person who I truly loved. Someone I could move across the country to San Francisco with. Someone who would trust me with her beloved orange cats, Simon and Garfunkel (which is huge, in case you didn’t know). In a day and age where the search for love can demand so much speed and iteration, Caitlin and I were blessed with time and proximity (occasionally awkward proximity. Thanks Viz). We are grateful for that blessing of time because it let us grow, both together and as individuals. We’ve grown into two people who trust and inspire each other. Two people who can enjoy being together while building a life. So, here we are now! Writing a blurb for our wedding website. We look forward to April 26, 2025 when we can get together with all of you at the Cheek’s family home in Coppell, Texas. Let’s have a beautiful backyard wedding and garden party to celebrate love in all its clumsy, complex, and wonderful forms.
