When we met, we played basketball. Well, Nathan played, and I stood awkwardly in the middle of the court. He was finishing college as I was just starting, but we ended up at the same convention. For five days, we skirted around each other. Although we hung out with the same groups of people, we never "clicked" together. On the last night, he asked me to dance. And he dropped me. I must have hit my head pretty hard that night, because I was starstruck soon after. Almost immediately after the convention was over, we spent all of our free time texting each other. The 718 miles that separated us soon turned from a slight inconvenience to an odious burden. We counted down the minutes until we could see each other again. After a few visits, when we couldn't stand the distance any longer, Nathan moved to Michigan (which he complained excessively about) and we fell even more in love every day. When he asked me to marry him, how could I have said anything but "YES!!"? I am excited to spend forever with my best friend in the whole world, and cannot wait to be his wife.
