How We Met

I wish I could say we have a big, dramatic love story, but we don’t. We actually met on Facebook Dating. I had just gotten out of a relationship and wasn’t looking for anything serious at the time. Nathan, however, was persistent from the very beginning and refused to give up on getting to know me. At first, I was definitely guarded and tried more than once to push him away. We eventually decided to just be friends, and he started coming over to spend time with me and my kiddos. Before long, he became a regular part of our lives. We quickly grew close and spent most of our free time together—going on walks, taking the kids to the park, or simply sitting outside talking while they played. On May 28th, 2023, Nathan asked me to be his girlfriend, and from that moment on, everything just felt right. What started as something unexpected turned into the best decision we ever made. We feel incredibly lucky to have found each other, and we can’t wait to start this next chapter together.

The Proposal

On May 28th, our second anniversary, Nathan had just gotten off work and sent me his usual message letting me know he was on his way home. He was taking forever, and I couldn’t figure out why. When he finally walked through the door, he was holding flowers. He told me “Happy Anniversary,” gave me a kiss, and handed them to me. As I went to set the flowers by the sink to fill a vase, I noticed the boys hovering around the kitchen watching me… and Nathan was too. I still had absolutely no clue he was about to propose. It was a complete surprise—especially because he’s usually not very good at keeping surprises. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw something shiny. I looked closer and realized there was a ring sitting right on top of the flowers. I immediately started yelling, “Oh my gosh, are you serious?!” over and over. Nathan grabbed the ring, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. Of course, I said yes. We can’t wait to spend our lives together. Nathan has stuck by my side while I’ve been putting in the work to heal and grow. He has shown me what true, healthy love is supposed to look like, and he has helped heal so much of my relationship trauma. I couldn’t ask for a better man to call my husband, or a better bonus dad for our kiddos.
