Question

Is Cartagena safe?

Answer

Yes. Cartagena is a vibrant, highly touristed city that welcomes visitors from all over the world year-round. We’ve personally spent many times there and have never had any issues. Our events are taking place in well-known, central areas within the city. As with any travel destination, we recommend using general awareness. Be aware of your surroundings, and be mindful of personal belongings.

Question

What is the currency?

Answer

The local currency is the Colombian Peso (COP). We recommend exchanging currency since some Colombian vendors, including taxis and small restaurants may not accept a credit or debit card but most will. There are many currency exchange locations in Cartagena once you arrive, but we would suggest using Bancolombia's ATMs for the best exchange rate or exchanging at your local bank before traveling.
Stores, bars and restaurants accept credit cards. However, you will need to exchange money for cab rides, street vendors, souvenirs, etc.
