Hiking

There are several beautiful hikes in and around the area. If you plan to hike, please be sure to bring adequate gear, sun protection, hiking boots, and plenty of water or a hydration pack. Desert temperatures can rise quickly during the day.

Ulum Arch

Located directly on the property, this is a moderate two-hour hike and a great way to explore the landscape without traveling far.

Arches National Park

UT

About 45 minutes from Ulum, Arches National Park is one of the most famous parks in the region. The park offers multiple hikes ranging from easy to challenging, with incredible rock formations and views throughout. Tip: Vehicle reservations are often required, so we strongly recommend reserving your entrance in advance.

Jeep Arch

Moab, UT 84532

This is a more rigorous hike that takes about four hours round-trip. The trail is remote but doable for most hikers and follows an out-and-back route. It’s a rewarding adventure for anyone looking for a longer trek. Important note: If you plan to hike, we recommend **starting early—around sunrise—**to avoid the midday desert heat.

Off-Road Excursions

The surrounding area is known for its incredible off-road trails and desert landscapes. Visitors can rent 2- or 4-passenger off-road vehicles (UTVs) to explore the trails. Excursions can be either: Guided tours, where a local guide leads the experience Self-guided adventures, where you explore the trails on your own We tried a self-guided excursion in 2025 and it was an unforgettable experience, so much so that we’re planning another self-guided ride after the wedding weekend.

Petroglyphs

The region is also home to ancient rock art created by Indigenous peoples centuries ago. If you plan to visit Jeep Arch, you’ll find a series of petroglyphs along the road from Moab on the way to the trailhead. They are incredibly special to see and well worth the stop, even if you decide not to complete the hike.
