Two Cultures, One Love

One of the most meaningful parts of our traditional wedding celebration is the opportunity to honor the cultures and families that have shaped us into who we are today. Nathalie is Haitian, and Dayo is Nigerian from the Yoruba tribe, and bringing both of our backgrounds together is deeply special to us. This day is not just the union of two people, but the coming together of two families and two beautiful cultures becoming one.
Throughout our wedding, you will see meaningful traditional cultural elements. You may witness Dayo prostrating before Nathalie’s parents, a powerful act of humility and reverence as he seeks their blessing.
You will also experience the joyful tradition of spraying money, symbolizing prosperity, love, and the community surrounding us with support and prayer for a fruitful marriage.
We are so grateful to share this part of our story with all of you and hope that as you celebrate alongside us, you experience the beauty, meaning, and love behind our union.
