FAQs

Question

What time should I arrive?

Answer

Please plan to arrive no later than 4:00 PM, as the ceremony will begin promptly at 4:30 PM. We recommend arriving a little early to find parking, get settled, and enjoy the venue before the ceremony begins.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Our wedding attire is semi-formal. We kindly ask that guests refrain from wearing jeans. Please note that the ceremony will take place on grass, so consider choosing footwear that is comfortable for an outdoor setting.

Question

Is the ceremony or reception indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Weather permitting, the ceremony will be held outdoors, while the reception will take place indoors. We will also have outdoor lawn games available during the reception for guests to enjoy.

Question

Where should I park?

Answer

Parking is available on-site at the venue. Please note that all vehicles must be removed from the property by 12:00 AM following the reception. The venue is used as a church on Sundays, and no vehicles may remain on the property overnight.

Question

Will transportation be provided?

Answer

No transportation will be provided. Since vehicles cannot remain parked at the venue overnight, we encourage guests to plan their transportation arrangements in advance and make sure they have a safe ride home.

Question

Are the ceremony and reception at the same location?

Answer

Yes! Both the ceremony and reception will take place at the same venue, so there is no need to travel between locations during the celebration.

Question

When is the RSVP deadline?

Answer

Please RSVP no later than August 18th. This helps us finalize guest counts with our venue and vendors and ensures we can make the necessary arrangements for everyone attending.

Question

Can I bring a plus-one?

Answer

Your RSVP invitation will clearly indicate whether a plus-one has been included. While we love a good party, we’ve chosen to keep our celebration intimate and focused on the family and friends we know and love. We appreciate your understanding!

Question

Are children welcome?

Answer

Absolutely! We love having children celebrate with us and are excited to welcome them to our wedding. That said, after approximately 8:45 PM, the music and atmosphere may become more geared toward the adults, and some songs may contain language that isn’t suitable for younger ears. If that’s a concern for your family, you may want to plan for a babysitter or an early bedtime for the little ones.

Question

Have you reserved hotel room blocks?

Answer

Yes! We have reserved a room block at Prairie Meadows Casino in Altoona, Iowa. If you would like to book a room within our block, please call the hotel directly and let them know you are booking as part of the Devick Wedding room block. Prairie Meadows Casino, Racetrack & Hotel Address: [Insert Address Here] We recommend booking early, as rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Question

Can dietary restrictions or allergies be accommodated?

Answer

We will have several food options available for guests to choose from. However, please note that our menu has not been specifically designed to accommodate individual dietary restrictions or food allergies. We encourage guests with serious dietary concerns to plan accordingly.

Question

Can I take photos during the ceremony?

Answer

We’ve hired some amazing photographers to capture our special day, and they’ll be able to get a much better shot than your iPhone! We kindly ask that you keep phones and cameras put away during the ceremony and leave the photography to the professionals. Once the ceremony is over, feel free to take as many photos as you’d like and help us capture all the fun throughout the celebration!
