How'd This Even Happen?
We first met in the fall of 2017 when we both applied to be Trip Leaders at Boise State’s Outdoor Program. We fell into an amazing friend group centered around pizza, poorly planned adventures, and floor time. We were friends for the next four years until sparks started to fly while rewatching Lord of the Rings. Now it’s been five years of lemon bars, puzzles, and Hamilton references.
We got engaged on October 30, 2024 while on a three week trip down the Colorado River. Nate kept the ring safe the whole time wrapped in a sock and stored in a locked ammo can. That’s an impressive feat for someone who loses things as often as he does. On day 10 during one of our glorious layovers we broke off from the group during a hike and walked over to a little peak overlooking the river. Shedding lots of happy tears and surrounded by beautiful canyons, it was the perfect proposal.
