We were engaged in June on the banks of the Chattahoochee River, a special place that has significant history and meaning for Nate, who chose to propose there so we could kick off our season of engagement in a location that meant a lot to him. We are capping off this season of engagement with a wedding in a place that means at lot to Mollie: her childhood home! The Davis house is nestled on a large plot of property that the Davis family has owned and lived on since the late 1800s. (Yes, you read that right!!) As you drive to the venue for the wedding, keep an eye out for Davis history all around! At the corner of HWY 54 and Ebenezer Road, you’ll turn through the Ronald Davis intersection, named after Mollie’s grandfather who started the family business. Once a few miles down Ebenezer Road, you’ll pass a dirt road called Davis Road, named after generations of the Davis family. You’ll also be passing by the homes of many family members who are neighbors on the property today, all nestled within a one mile radius: Mollie’s Memaw, Uncle George and Aunt Marie, Aunt Beth and Uncle Todd. The next generation lives on the property too: Mollie’s brother Jacob and his wife Andrea (who bought the home off of Davis Road that Ronald was born in) and many first and second cousins - Kayla, Tyler, Emily, Craig, and Tanner and their families. Next door to the Davis house is even “dirt road Todd,” Mollie’s uncle from her mother’s side. Many of Mollie’s cousins and her brother were married on and around the family property, so we are so excited to share a wedding celebration here again!
Funny you should ask! Visit Smith and Davis Clothing before the ceremony to shop clothing and footwear for the whole family - check out the latest from brands like Hoka, Brooks, On, UGG, johnnie-O, Patagonia and more! The Davis family business was founded by Ronald Davis (Mollie’s grandpa) in 1965 and is still run by the family today after almost 60 years. Tony (Mollie’s dad), his brother George, his sister Beth, Mollie’s brother Jacob, cousin Tanner and the family matriarch, Memaw, all still clock in each week to serve customers in Fayette County. If you are able to swing by and shop on the wedding weekend, please show your wedding invite at the register to take advantage of a special wedding guest discount: 20% off any regularly priced item! You can find S&D at 1552 Highway 54, Fayetteville (about 3 miles from the Davis home).
If you’ve been contacted about flower girl duties, thank you for your service! Please make sure your flower girl arrives between 3 and 3:30 to the Davis home to get her settled in and familiar with her wedding day responsibilities. Please have her wear her most festive party dress in solid fall colors like merigold, burgundy, mahogany, mulberry, or emerald green (think tulle, ribbons and all the bows!). After walking the aisle, she’ll be able to sit with you during the ceremony so don’t forget to save her a seat!
We're one step ahead of you... Come to the venue starting around 3 to enjoy a drink on us from a coffee cart and barista, who will be creating a buzz for our guests before the ceremony and during our cocktail hour immediately after. We are both quality time people and love our community, so we hope you'll come by the ceremony early to catch up over a cup of coffee with old friends and family or make new acquaintances at the event!
We'd recommend you use our code to book a stay at the Trilith Guesthouse, a new Marriott property located in Trilith, the walkable little film community that has been built up around Fayette County's movie studio hub. Trilith is just a short drive from the Davis home and offers many fun amenities like restaurants, coffee shops, shopping and a kid-friendly outdoor play area. (This will be the hotel where our groom and his buddies will be getting ready, FYI!) See our "Travel" tab for more information and the booking code. And, of course, if you unexpectedly need a place to stay the night of the wedding after taking advantage of the celebratory atmosphere, don’t fret – Mr. and Mrs. Davis will save a spot on the couch for you!
We are having an outdoor ceremony in the woods by the edge of the yard followed by a tented reception in the backyard. Some walking will be required, so please keep that in mind when choosing your dancing shoes! There will be ample parking on site in the pasture.
Please keep in mind the temperatures when picking out your wedding day attire, as we’ll be outdoors for both the 4 PM ceremony and tented reception. Please wear cocktail attire – that sweet spot that’s less than formal/ black-tie but still a bit fancier than a nice date night or dinner out. Nate will be in a tux, so don’t out dress him! Of course, it’ll be mid-November and we’re hoping to have perfect evening fall weather, so feel free to bust out that fur wrap, velvet jumpsuit, or other fun statement piece from your winter wardrobe to make its season debut!
