We met over Labor Day weekend in 2020, soon after Mary Beth moved to Chicago for school. Nate went out with some old friends, and Mary Beth went out with some new friends, to a bar in the neighborhood called Paradise Park. Nate and his friends sent a round of drinks over to the girls' table at the encouragement of a waitress they knew. Trying to be funny, they sent a round of Malort shots. Being a graduate student who was shocked by the city prices, Mary Beth was happy to accept the free drink (of course, she didn't know what Malort tasted like at the time). It was terrible, but still, Mary Beth and her friends decided to go over to their table to chat. Mary Beth sat down next to Nate, and now, 5 years later, we are getting married! We cannot wait to celebrate with you all.
