For a little context, we both work in tech. Nate is a quirky Software Engineer with a distaste for technology, while Corey is a laser focused, efficiency driven Product Manager. We worked together at Angie’s List starting in Spring 2019, but we were on opposite sides of the business and the office. In fact, the only time we ever had a conversation in the office, was in the breakroom. Nate was sitting at the bar, eating his salad (or what we can all pretend was a salad), when Corey strolled in and grabbed some Oreos from the free snacks. She felt it important to share with the folks sitting around that her undying loyalty would always be to original Oreos. None of that double-stuff crap. Nate -- being a bit nosey, as well as cheeky -- chimed in to ask if any of the different Oreo flavors tickled Corey’s fancy, to which she replied “No," and went back to work. Ahh the romance. 🤣 In Spring 2020, when Angie's List asked all employees to work remotely, Nate saw it as the perfect opportunity to move to the mountains of CO, where he'd code during the weeks and climb mountains on the weekends. In what seemed like a miracle of small world coincidences, Corey took a road trip out west, through CO right as Nate was summiting his second mountain. 🏔 When we both posted our mountain photos on a company message board a week later, we actually connected for the first time -- some 1,000 miles apart. Conversation about hiking led to curiosity, curiosity led to excitement, excitement led fondness, and fondness finally led to our first date. Corey flew back out to CO, and we climbed a mountain together. Since then, we've been inseparable -- except for the 1k miles between CO and IN. ✈️ We spent the year of the pandemic racking up frequent flier miles, rambling around mountain towns and chilling at beach bars. In August 2021, Nate moved to Chicago, and on Sept 19 he popped the question. Now we're looking forward to our next adventure: married life 5 blocks from Wrigley Field!
