There aren't any reenacting events at the Historic Fort Wayne, AKA "the Old Fort," the weekend Nate and Amber are tying the knot, but it's open for visitors. The historic fort is a replica of the log structure that was part of the United States' frontier defenses during the War of 1812. In addition to its historic value, it's where the happy couple initially met in July 2019 and where Nate proposed to Amber in October of 2020. For that reason, it occupies a special place in their hearts.
If you're looking for a fun, family experience, be sure to check out the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo. The zoo's African Journey, Australian Adventure, and Indonesian Rainforest are guaranteed to convert even the shiest child into a chatterbox.
Nate and Amber have never actually been to the Foellinger-Friemann Botanical Conservatory, but they've heard good things. If you experience horticultural inclinations, the Conservatory is a stop you'll want to make.
Fall festivals are a pretty big deal in Indiana, and conveniently, there will be one going on right in Fort Wayne! Be sure to check out Kuehnert Dairy Farm.
If you're in the mood for some delicious Thai food, try Baan Thai. With fantastic flavor and reasonable prices, it's a great place to grab dinner.
Don't let the "hole in the wall" appearance of Kim Vu's fool you; this is the best spot for authentic Vietnamese chow in Fort Wayne. While you're there, be sure to order a cup of Vietnamese coffee.
From the Blacktip Reef to the Upland Tropical Rainforest, the National Aquarium is a Baltimore experience you don't want to miss. In addition to state-of-the-art exhibits, the National Aquarium features iconic architecture. Its famous harbor-side glass pyramids have even been featured in panoramic shots from the CW's Arrow series. Be sure to add the National Aquarium to your travel plans!
Two Words: Free Art! Whether you're into classic masterpieces by the likes of Francisco Goya or prefer pieces that are more modern or trendy, the BMA is sure to have something that grabs your attention.
Like the Old Fort in Fort Wayne, Fort McHenry is a relic of the War of 1812. It's also the birthplace of our national anthem. Interestingly, Fort McHenry has even gifted Historic Fort Wayne a Star-Spangled Banner replica that had been flown on the parade grounds in Baltimore. It turns out Nate and Amber's wedding isn't the only connection between Baltimore and Fort Wayne.
Green Leaf is an excellent place to grab a late dinner. There's nothing bad on the menu, and it's conveniently located in Cockeysville. Nate highly suggests Green Leaf's Pad Thai or Drunken Noodles. Regardless of what you order, the service will charm your socks off.
Do you want brunch? Of course, you do! First Watch has an excellent menu, and their coffee isn't too shabby either. They close at 2:30 PM and are always busy, though, so be sure to call ahead.
