Allison asked her friend Sawyer to join her at the Rustic to see Somebody's Darling about 2 hours before the show started. Surprisingly, Sawyer, who is a flight attendant, was in town and available! Sawyer and Allison danced along to the set, and then Sawyer asked if they could stay back after the show ended and say hi to some of the band members she knew. Nate was the first band member to walk out from backstage. Allison had noticed him drumming earlier in the evening because he had a shirt on that said "9:30." She commented "Oh his shirt has my bed time on it!" (turns out it's a really cool club in Washington D.C., but I digress). After a few minutes of catching up with Sawyer, Nate asked what we were doing the next evening. Sawyer mentioned that she had a date. Nate turned to Allison and asked "Can I take you on a date?" Of course Allison said "yes." Their first date was to A Step Up Lounge and Seafood Shack, both in Nate's old neighborhood. After discussing all the things you "aren't supposed to talk about" on a first date (theology, politics, etc.), Nate and Allison both knew they were in for much more than they bargained for. As Nate was taking Allison back to her house, they drove by a bad car accident with emergency responders everywhere. Nate grabbed Allison's hand and started praying out loud. That's when Allison knew she found the man she had been waiting for.
