Emilia was on a siblings trip in Chicago with her brothers when she hopped on a dating app one night to see if the cute boy she matched with had finally messaged her. When she realized he hadn't, with a little encouragement from her brothers (and Jameson), she took a chance and messaged him first. To her excitement he messaged her back and asked her on a date the following week. Nate and Emilia's first date was at a fun little bar called Brew Dogs in Columbus. They went out for a few Elvis Juices and even though Emilia spilled hers all over Nate's shoes, he still asked her out again afterwards! After their first date on a Thursday night, they continued hanging out all weekend, with both of their friend groups, and of course Nate's dog Sierra. It didn't take long for them to realize how much fun they had together and officially starting dating only a month later. They spent lots of time working out, running on the Scioto Mile, trying new restaurants, hanging out with friends and Emilia's family, and getting to know each other more. About a year later, in the midst of COVID, they decided to move in together. Learning how to live together in the middle of a pandemic wasn't the easiest, but if they could manage to survive that, they can get through anything! Even adopting a new rescue puppy together, named Rosie. They loved their new apartment and all the friends that came with it, shout out to The Ave and sand volleyball! Over the years, the two went on many trips to visit friends and family and attended a few weddings. One of which was in Colorado, where they completely fell in love with its' beauty and the mountains. They both new one day this would be their new home. And sure enough, 3 years later the two packed up their things and headed West. Nate drove out with the dogs, and Emilia's mom drove out with her to help them get settled in. They've loved getting to explore Colorado, go hiking, camping, and skiing (a few minor injuries a long the way), meeting new friends, and getting to be closer to Nate's family for the first time since he left home in California for college. After a year of living in Colorado, Nate finally decided it was time to pop the question! One weekend when Emilia's family was visiting, Nate planned to take her "hiking" with her cousins early in the morning. At the start of the "trailhead" (it wasn't even a trail at all) Emilia started walking out with Nate to look at the views, noticing how weird he was acting. Next thing she knows, he's saying, "I love you" and gets down on one knee. The tears start falling and she temporarily forgot how to speak! But alas, she said yes! Meanwhile, Emilia's cousins and Nate's Best Man were both off to the side taking photos and videos of them. After soaking it all up, the 5 of them headed back to town to grab brunch, where Emilia's parents, Nate's parents and sister, and Emilia's aunt and uncle were waiting for them with champagne! Nate and Emilia know they don't have it all figured out, but are excited to continue moving through life and figuring it all out together. They can't thank their friends and family enough for making the trip to colorful Colorado to help celebrate their day. Let's do this!!
