Our story starts in March of 2018 in Austin, Texas. I had recently relocated to Austin from Salt Lake City, Utah. Nathan was in his junior year studying civil engineering at the University of Texas. We met at a pool party hosted by Nathan's roommate. Over the next few weeks, I continued to make friends with those who had attended the pool party. I noticed some extra attention from Nathan, so I invited him to hang out one evening. (I guess he was pretty into me, since he bailed on an intramural sand volleyball game to come over!) We hit it off, but I left the next day for a three week trip to Europe. It was unfortunate timing, but luckily for me, Nathan promptly asked me out to dinner within a few days of coming back to Texas. We continued to go on dates, and by May, Nathan asked me to be his girlfriend. As I was new to Austin, Nathan took every opportunity to help me experience the city: the restaurants, music scene, museums, parks, hikes, and all of the quirky spots that make Austin weird and wonderful. I was falling in love with the city, and perhaps I didn’t realize, but I was also falling in love with Nathan. We dated throughout his senior year in Austin. Following graduation, Nathan moved to Fort Worth to start his career, and we started dating long-distance. After a year of daily phone calls and weekend visits, I accepted a job based in DFW. It was bittersweet to say goodbye to our beloved Austin, but we were thrilled to be back in the same city. Six months later, on Saturday December 12, Nathan proposed! Over the past three years, we’ve made great memories and experienced some life milestones together--music festivals, graduation, first jobs, long-distance, vacations and road trips, sky-diving, a global pandemic, to name a few. Answering “Yes!” to Nathan’s proposal was the easiest decision I’ve ever made. I can’t wait to continue experiencing life with him by my side.
