We met through our mutual friend Kristen Cozzi (now Serrecchia). Long-time best friend of Natasha, and a friend of Marty's through youth ministry, Kristen had been trying to convince us to go on a date for years. After refusing her multiple times, we both were single and ready to date again in early 2019. We both decided to take Kristen up on her offer to set us up, and the rest is history!
On Christmas Day 2019 we had a jam-packed day of having breakfast and exchanging gifts with Natasha's family. A quick stop home to change and then head to the Lupou house for gift exchanges with with the whole family and some more fun and food. After dinner, we all got a little drowsy and many of us found a spot to curl up and take a nap before the festivities continued. Typically not a great napper, Natasha woke up and was ready to head home, more exhausted than before she took her nap! She begged Marty to let her go home, and the best she could get was "I need you to rally for one more hour." Begrudgingly, she conceded. Marty offered to show her a letter from Grandma Lajka that was sitting on the Christmas tree. As she was looking at it, Marty started to make a speech, which Natasha completely ignored. At some point during the speech, he started to mention how thankful he was for his life with Natasha, and she stared at him confused, and (still) annoyed....until she realized he was proposing! Suddenly Marty was down on one knee asking her to marry him! Natasha started to ugly cry while shaking her head yes, completely oblivious to the fact that her own family and friends had snuck up to join the party for the proposal. The proposal was perfect and completely unexpected. We are so excited to share this next chapter of our lives with all of you!
