How We Met

9.6.19

Alex's Story: I was trolling on a dating site and having the hardest time trying to find someone that was attractive. UNTIL I saw this beautiful woman and said "NOPE she's a CATFISH" and kept scrolling. However, her profile continued to populate when I'd search. So I said "you know what, lets just see what happens." I messaged her and said "I have got to meet you and take you out." Of course she ignored me for 4 days. Come to find out she was sick in the hospital all that time. (Whoops) My phone sent me a notification that she responded, but we all know me, I didn't pay for the subscription. So once I saw that I had to pay in order to see her message, I ran to my car to get my HANDY DANDY wallet and BAM she's been mine ever since. THE END..... Natasha's Story: I was still fairly new in the DC area and seemed to always be at work or at home laying around. So, one day I made a profile on this site that said "new in the area and looking to meet someone to show me around." I rarely checked this site. I got a ton of messages, all sounded creepy. After getting really sick and being in the hospital I was unable to do anything so there I was laying around and I thought of the website, I checked it. So many messages. This girl stood out because I have seen her profile several times, but she looks 12. It said "I need to meet you!" I saw this was from a few days prior, so I scrolled down and there was another message from her, "I'm sorry, that was too forward. So, nevermind." I asked her if she was changing her mind or if this was still an invite to show me around. She has done more than show me around the world since then, she has became my world.

Our First Date....

9.13.19

Alex's Story: After Face-timing everyday and realizing she was not a CATFISH. (Laughs) Natasha sent me a message saying she would like to meet me. At first I thought she was joking. But, she asked again within like 10 minutes. I said "OK where do you want to meet?" And she had the nerve to want to meet at the grocery store...... Everyone that knows me, knows I hate the grocery store. I must've really liked her to want to meet her there. Of course, I ended up meeting her at her house and riding with her to the grocery store, mall, and Pizza Hut. This was NOT your typical first date, but of course I told her I didn't want to sit at a dinner table and exchange awkward questions when we can hang out and get to know each other naturally. I learned so much about her in such a short amount of time (10 hours; laughs). We just clicked instantly. It felt so natural and effortless to laugh and joke with her. I had felt like I had known her forever...... Natasha's Story: Alex and I had been face-timing and texting every day and night since we first connected. I thought to myself are we going to meet up and see places or are we just gonna talk on the phone? I need to meet this girl. I asked her if we could meet in person. Nothing. Crickets. Silence. I asked again. This time, she was like okay... when? Obviously trying to play it cool. I mean, who wouldn't want to meet me? I am amazing. I told her she could come over and go to the grocery store with me and some other things. I think she thought I was joking, but she came anyway. I wanted to have low-key time to feel her out and talk to her and get to know her without distractions that we would have out at a bar or what not. We went to Food Lion, the mall and Pizza Hut. I was so enamored with her. Our connection was completely effortless. We stayed up talking for hours and getting to know each other and laughing. The silly, yet informative talks as well as belly laughs have continued on to this day.

The Proposal...

1.1.20

Alex's Story: I wanted to propose on April fools day. But, I was talked out of it by my co-worker Hoppy. I asked, "well what other day would I propose?" Sidebar; I also had a ring made like 2 months after knowing Natasha. I knew she was the one for me. After waiting 2 long months for it to be made, I then said "well how will I know when to propose?" I said "Ok, she's really been asking to go see WICKED on Broadway and really loves New York." I talk to Hoppy again about how I should do it, and all she says is "Whatever you do Lobban, don't do it at midnight on NYE, that's so cliché." I had it all planned out. It was supposed to be on 1/2/2020. I contact my sorority sister Aisha and asked if we could stay with her. I told her about the proposal, what I want to do, and how I want to propose in front of the Christmas tree in Time Square. Aisha is pumped and ready to do that. On Christmas I give Natasha the WICKED tickets and hotel reservations for NYC. Fast-forward to NYE. We get on the Megabus heading from Union Station to NYC, meet Aisha, who of course gives me the worst hug ever. Change our clothes to go to time square. Somewhere in the middle of walking I grab Aisha and said, "Ish I'm going to do it today." Aisha says "like right now?" I’m like "DUH, yes what's wrong with you? Whenever she stops to take a picture, because she's going to want to take one, that's when I'm going to do it, ok?" Aisha says "Ok, bet." (This was all while walking behind Natasha, who was oblivious to it all) So we stop in front of the Forever sign for a picture, Natasha is in the middle of fixing her glasses, I then knelt down on that freezing concrete and asked her to marry me. She was so confused and shocked that for a second she didn't move at all. She just froze in time. If I could remember the words that I said to her, I would write them but, it felt like time had stood still and nothing else mattered. I had never felt that free in my entire life, until that moment.

The Proposal...

1.1.20

Natasha's Story: For Christmas Alex got me a trip to NYC to go to Wicked on Broadway, She knows that I love Broadway and NYC both. We get to NY to her friend Aisha's place and they immediately talk about going to Time Square, OH! I love Time Square! We get to time Square and it is so cold,,,, COLD! But we are still walking. I am wondering where we are walking. Alex says "we are walking to see some tree." I do not understand why, it is so cold. But, I will go anywhere she wants to go, so I am just going along. I see a sign that says Forever. I stop her and ask her to take a picture in front of it. Of course I have my glasses on so I have to take them off. We take some pictures. After the pictures, I find my glasses to put on and look around for her. I see her on the ground and I thought she fell. I notice she is smiling, the biggest smile, but she looks so nervous too. She had the box in her hand and she looks at me and she said, " I told you I wanted to always be there for you, I told you that you were my everything, and I want you to be my wife....." Honestly, I can not tell you what else she said because time stood still. It was just her and I and nobody else around. For that moment, it was just us. It was complete silence and I thought I was dreaming. Suddenly, I found my way back to reality and that is when I looked around and realized so many people were staring at me. She was staring at me, my girlfriend was staring at me waiting for an answer. It felt like forever but I knew it was only a couple of seconds. I told her, "of course, YES!" My ring is stunning, but its not near as beautiful as the love we have found. It was all made even better when she told me that she got Ashton's blessing before asking.
