We met during the fall semester of our senior year at the University of Miami while cheering on our Miami Hurricanes at a football game. Matt encouraged me to join in on some fun tailgate games, and the rest is history! We became pretty much inseparable after that, making many special senior year memories together. Even though we met in Miami, our homes were in different states. Thankfully, our journeys aligned and sent us to the Northeast over time. After Matt finished his Master's at the U, he started his career as a CPA at a big public accounting firm in NYC. As I was applying to medical schools, fate led to my acceptance at a school in New York, which allowed us to be close to each other and lend support as we advanced our careers together and got to where we are today!
It was a crisp autumn morning on October 12, 2019. Matt and I boarded a train to New York City to explore the vibrant colors of Central Park, which had become an annual tradition for us during this time of the year. What started out as customary soon turned to a special memory that we will both cherish forever. After passing Bow Bridge, Matt took a moment to reflect on our journey together as a couple and proceeded to get down on one knee and propose! For an added surprise, he coordinated for my mom and sister to travel up from Miami. Both of our families jumped out from their tree-covered hiding spots to join in on this exciting moment, and we celebrated together over lunch and more exploring that afternoon.
