We were introduced by Joey's friend Anthony back in February 2019. Joey was about to start SWAT school and Anthony showed Joey my Instagram. Would you believe he messaged me right off the bat telling me we were "destined to marry each other" and that he wanted to take me to Chili's to get the top-shelf margaritas, not the house ones? I laughed it off and we didn't speak for a month while he was lost in SWAT school. Graduation night rolled. We bumped into each other, and I caught him staring a few dozen times. He got my number and unlike a normal person, he favored Facetime over a normal text or phone call. Unconventional move some would say. But very effective. We instantly clicked, and before I knew it Joey asked me to go fishing with him one morning in Flamingo. He said we didn't need to wake up super early, but just make sure I was at his house at 4:10am. Next thing I knew we were on a dark road to nowhere with a guy I barely knew, talking about "if a python crosses the road" and his game plan on how many redfish he was going to catch. The weather was perfect and we spent the entire day laughing. His "game plan" actually worked. We caught so many fish. We also caught each other. After a couple of weeks of spending every day together, Joey told me he would only ask me to be his girl if I caught a bonefish. According to him one of the hardest fish to catch. I had never even seen one of these things. I caught that said bonefish on our very first trip to Biscayne Bay. After a quick photo, we let the bonefish go and Joey kept up his end of the deal and asked me to be his girl. I said yes and moved my hat out of the way and gave him a kiss. On Sept. 19, 2021, in front of both our families, Joey dropped down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was a beautiful moment we will never forget. We are so excited to celebrate with all of you. Each one of you has left a special impact on our lives and we are forever grateful. Love, N + J
