It all started in a math class back in 2014. Derek sent Nat an email asking for class notes—and whether he knew it or not, that message would be the beginning of something truly special. We exchanged numbers, started studying together, and soon found ourselves skipping study sessions for coffee dates instead. After some time, Derek moved back to Southern California, but we stayed in touch. In 2018, when he returned to Monterey, it felt like no time had passed at all. They picked up right where they left off—laughing, talking, and reconnecting effortlessly. From classmates to coffee dates, to lifelong partners—it’s been quite the equation.
