In Fall 2013, Daniel was attending Missouri S&T and was part of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE). He had come back to Lincoln College Prep Academy (his high school) to promote a weekend retreat SHPE hosted for high school students. Turns out, we both attended the same high school and even briefly crossed paths, but we didn’t really interact. I was accepted into the weekend retreat and that’s when I met Daniel. During the next four days, we started to get to know each other. I remember sitting in the dorm common area and reading on of my favorite books, Pride & Prejudice, when Daniel walks over and starts asking me about it. I started telling him about it and why I loved it so much (she was gushing -Daniel). He downloaded the book that night and started reading it so he could have something to talk about with me even after I left. A couple weeks later, Daniel was in Kansas City for Thanksgiving break and he asked me out. By the end of the school break, we started dating. Who would have guessed back then we’d be getting married five years later!

Our anniversary is November 30, 2013 and our four year anniversary fell on a Thursday. We both had busy school schedules and decided to celebrate in St. Louis that following Saturday. Daniel planned the whole thing. He booked me a massage, a manicure, and took me out to a fancy dinner. Naturally, I was 100% sure he was proposing at the end of the night. During our dinner (our last event before we return to Rolla), it hits me that he's not going to propose that night. I could not concentrate on anything else, but I quickly brushed it off and enjoyed the rest of our night. When we arrived back to Rolla, there was a trail of rose petals and candles leading me to a bouquet of roses and a wedding ring box. I turn around to look at Daniel and he was down on one knee with the ring in his hands. He asked me to marry him and of course I said yes!
