Trey was on his journey to join the United States Navy while Natalya had just returned from her US Army training and prepared to head out on a deployment to the Middle East. Both were on a dating app at the time and happened to match up, which lead to their meeting. They were enjoying their time together before parting ways to start their commitments. Trey and Natalya enjoyed going to the movies, getting dinner, and seeing each other every chance they got. When they parted ways, it was agreed upon that maybe one day in the future they’d reunite. Once apart and not being able to communicate, Trey asked his mother to find Natalya on Facebook so she could share Trey’s mailing address with Natalya. From there, they corresponded solely through letters, waiting with anticipation every day to see if they received a letter from the other. Three months later both were finally able to speak on the phone once Trey completed Navy boot camp, and agreed there was more to their connection than previously thought. They learned to build a strong foundation through open communication for the next nine months while apart, which was a blessing to the relationship. Trey received orders to be stationed in San Diego, leading to their first move where they lived in a single car garage converted into a studio. Each one can tell you right now, sometimes they wanted to strangle one another but learned the beauty of a partnership! Ever since the start, faith has been a major pillar in their relationship and they enjoy learning from the word of God and being challenged day to day. They brought Natalya’s miniature labradoodle, Prince, into their home and spoil him with cuddles and attention. They love to take Prince out on hikes across San Diego, and enjoy what nature has to provide. When circumstances permit, both try to spend time discovering new places like Lake Tahoe or Sequoia National Park. Time is spent enjoying going to the movies and binge watching tv shows together when they get home from work after a long day. Trey jokes Natalya is uncultured so he’s always introducing classic pop culture movies and music she never knew since she grew up on Barbie movies and Mexican music. Natalya now loves country music and line dancing due to Trey’s influence, while he can now proudly karaoke to “ La Bikina” by Luis Miguel. Although culturally different, each one embrace the others differences and love to combine the two. The couple is looking forward to the next step in their lives, where a new journey begins in Virginia Beach as of October 2023 while Trey follows his desires to work alongside Navy Seals. Both are excited to be able to discover what the east coast has to offer and all the history they will learn from it. Plans are being made to purchase their first home and they look forward to hosting any family members who want to come visit! It will be a year full of changes and challenges but they are happy to be doing them together and have the support of all their loved ones. Trey and Natalya look forward to seeing you on their wedding day!
