Although Vong is from St.Paul, MN, and Natalie is from Mayville, WI, they both left the midwest and found each other in Isumi, Japan. They were both placed there to be English teachers to elementary and junior high school students. Vong's 5th year in Japan was Natalie's first. For the first 5 months, they didn't see much of each other, but they soon started dating in December. The first date was lunch at a local Italian cafe nearby and a walk on the beach afterward. On their second date, they caught a showing of The Last Jedi. Vong quickly learned that the key to Natalie's heart was through food and star wars. They officially became a couple on December 24th, 2017. For the next two and a half years, they traveled Japan extensively together. While Natalie couldn't convince Vong to get contact lenses and go surfing together, they did go on many hikes and snowboarding excursions. From Okinawa to Taiwan, they had a lot of adventures. In 2020, the pair decided to move back to America. Once the two were back in America together, they were able to meet each other's friends and family. On their three year anniversary, Natalie had gone to Vong's family's house to celebrate Christmas Eve. When exchanging presents in private, Vong asked Natalie if she liked his family. She said she did. He then asked if she would like to be a part of it and got out a ring. After scolding Vong for not actually being on one knee, he got down on one knee and she said yes. Actually, she doesn't remember her exact words because she was on her third cocktail and in shock, but regardless, they were engaged. In April of 2020, they had a small church wedding and were officially married. The bride was very happy her grandfather could be there at her wedding. In the summer of 2021, a furry bulldog mix companion was added to their family named Jeep. They hope you all can join for a reception and celebration in May of 2022.
