Two of the couple's best friends, Jared and Fran, were the masterminds behind the meeting. A group went to dinner one night, and Natalie happened to bring a guy friend (not a date) along. Conveniently, the open seat next to her was saved for Toby. The second he sat down, the other guy didn't have a chance even if he wanted to. After a night of getting to know one another, numbers were exchanged and a first date was on the calendar.

First dates are always awkward - this one was different. Toby kept the plans a secret, but let Natalie know dinner would be involved. The two shared a delicious meal at Gabriella's (a spot they now go to on almost every special occasion) and hit the road for an unknown location. They took the exit to Goldsby, Oklahoma and Natalie got concerned - as a true crime buff, this felt like a story on one of her podcasts. They drove out to an empty field and Toby told Natalie to get out of the car (don't worry, Natalie shared her location with friends). To her suprise, he had loaded up the back of the truck with blankets and pumpkin beer - the perfect setting to look at the stars. After this date, Natalie was pretty convinced Toby was the man she was going to marry.

During COVID, Natalie and Toby had been visiting Scissortail Park for socially distanced happy hours and time with friends. Sarah Rogers and Natalie made a plan to meet at the park for a double date (or so she thought), but it happened to be around 40 degrees so Toby figured his cover was blown. Natalie was so excited to see their friends that she was oblivious to the real plan. Sarah faked that she would be late, so Natalie and Toby walked to their picnic spot alone where Toby got down on one knee. They still can't believe that their friends and family could keep that secret!
