Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Natalie Darden and Matthew Valich
I'm not going to even try to estimate the driving times to all of these because they vary widely depending on what time of the day you leave. My best advice for these is to google maps it and click different departure times to see. The earlier, the better!
Universal Studios Hollywood

Universal Studios Hollywood

100 Universal City Plaza, Universal City, CA 91608

Universal Studios Hollywood is a frequent stop for us—we end up going multiple times a year and never get tired of it. It’s known for the studio tour, Harry Potter World, and Super Nintendo World, and it’s an easy, fun day whether you’re there for rides or just wandering around at your own pace.

Disneyland Park

Disneyland Park

Anaheim, CA 92802

Disneyland Park — we’ve somehow never been here in the 10+ years of living here. But a lot of people say it’s kind of a big deal...idk if they're lying or not. From Santa Monica, it’s roughly a 1 to 1.5 hour drive depending on traffic, making it a doable (and classic) Southern California day trip.

Academy Museum of Motion Pictures

Academy Museum of Motion Pictures

6067 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90036

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is another spot we’ve been to several times and always enjoy. It’s an easy, laid-back way to spend a few hours with rotating film exhibits, iconic movie props and costumes you won't see anywhere else, and great views from the top—perfect even if you’re not a hardcore film buff.

Runyon Canyon Park

Runyon Canyon Park

2000 North Fuller Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90046

Runyon Canyon Park is our go-to hike when we want to get outside without leaving the city. It's a little challenging and known for great views of LA and the occasional celebrity sighting. Lots of good doggies.

The Comedy Store

The Comedy Store

8433 Sunset Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA 90069

The Comedy Store is...obviously legendary. It's an iconic LA comedy club and a great spot for a night out. You’ll catch a mix of up-and-coming comics and big-name drop-ins, and it’s one of those places where you never really know who might pop in onstage. ***The only note I have for this one is to not trust lineups if you see someone and buy a ticket for that reason. Comics are known for being unreliable, and can drop out last minute. However, even if you're fav comic drops out, you'll still see some INCREDIBLY funny people.

Musso & Frank Grill

Musso & Frank Grill

6667 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90028

Musso & Frank Grill is a Hollywood classic that’s been around since 1919. We come here for literally any celebration. It’s old-school in the best way—red leather booths, martinis, and a timeless vibe that feels like stepping into another era, even if you’re just there for drinks. Order the filet mignon with béarnaise and truffle mac and cheese and thank me later.

Good Times at Davey Wayne's

Good Times at Davey Wayne's

1611 North El Centro Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90028

Good Times at Davey Wayne’s is a classic fav. It's an iconic LA spot with a hidden, speakeasy-style entrance through the back of a house. The whole place is themed like a ’70s living room, usually with live music or DJs. If the line's too long, you can always check out it's cousin, "No Vacancy".

3rd Street Promenade Shopping

3rd Street Promenade Shopping

3rd Street Promenade, Santa Monica, CA 90401

Third Street Promenade is a great spot if you’re in the mood to shop, wander, or grab a bite all in one place. It’s an easy stroll with plenty of stores, street performers, and restaurants, and it’s just a few blocks from the beach—very classic Santa Monica energy.

Griffith Park

Griffith Park

Los Angeles, CA 90027

The Griffith Observatory is one of those very LA spots that’s worth the trip up the hill. It’s all about space and astronomy with telescopes and cool science exhibits, plus some of the best views of the city and the Hollywood sign. And it's *free*.

Venice Skatepark

Venice Skatepark

1800 Ocean Front Walk, Los Angeles, CA 90291

Go watch people be AMAZING at skateboarding and skating. There's always incredible people to watch here. Pretty sure this place will be used in the Olympics.

The Abbey Food & Bar

The Abbey Food & Bar

692 North Robertson Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA 90069

For my LGBTQ peeps — this is where your journey begins in WeHo. This place is iconic.
