This is a unique experience if you are up for a little challenge. It is a 1000 ft elevation gain, 1.5 mi (paved) hike up to the caves, but definitely worth it. The cave experience takes you through 3 caves with a guide and takes about 1 hr.
Located right in the heart of downtown, this area is perfect for leisurely strolls and exploring the vibrant city center. If you're interested, take a walk to the nearby Mormon Temple and immerse yourself in its intriguing architecture and history.
If you're feeling overwhelmed and unsure of where to start, let me share Mark's ideal trip with you. Imagine this: arriving in Salt Lake City on a crisp Thursday morning and heading straight to Ensign Peak for a breathtaking hike with panoramic views of SLC. Afterward, refuel downtown at spots like The Gateway or City Creek with some much-needed food and beer. Next, take a scenic drive southward, perhaps up Little or Big Cottonwood Canyon for stunning vistas. Then, cruise along the Timpanogos Highway to Sundance Mountain Resort! Spend Friday exploring Sundance, indulging in arts and crafts, and perhaps a leisurely hike. Saturday means hiking or mountain biking with friends and family, followed by chilling at the ski lift bar. Cap off the day at the Owl Bar, soaking in the live music scene. Finally, Sunday calls for a visit to Park Silly Market, savoring the last moments before your departure. Cheers to an unforgettable trip!
Here is Natalie's ideal trip suggestions for your Labor Day weekend! Arrive Thursday midday to the SLC airport. Make your way over to downtown SLC and stop at one of the local coffee shops. Take the scenic route up Big Cottonwood canyon to Guardsman Pass and take in the mountain view. This drive will drop you off in Park City, where you can walk Main Street to do a little shopping and get a bite to eat. End your evening at Sundance Resort settling in. Friday morning, start your day off in Midway, Utah (~20 min drive from Sundance) at the Homestead Crater for a soak in the hot spring. Enjoy the rest of your day at Mark & Nat's wedding :) Saturday, sleep in following your night of dancing and celebrating, and have a nice breakfast at the resort. Wrap up your weekend by spending the day enjoying what the resort has to offer- hiking, biking, spa, craft center- maybe run into Mark & Nat. I'd recommend making the most of the holiday weekend & ending it at one of the many state parks in UT!
