The Denver Botanic Gardens' 24 acres feature a whopping 50 gardens for visitors to explore. This expansive facility in downtown Denver's Cheesman Park treats travelers to a variety of different environments, from a traditional Japanese garden (complete with bonsai trees) to the South African Plaza blooming with exotic plants like asparagus fern and torch lilies. They also have an incredible children area, and an art exhibit as well.
For those with young children (or the young at heart) who are coming a few days ahead or after the event, we suggest you head up to Breckenridge -- about a 1.5-hour drive to check out the Breckenridge Trolls. They are 15-foot wooden sculptures nestled among an alpine trail. There is parking just at the trail head and lots of great restaurants and shops about 10 minutes away in the heart of downtown Breckenridge. You may also catch sight of the golden Aspens as their color changes for winter!
