Handfasting is an ancient Celtic tradition that celebrates the union of two people. It represents an equal partnership and an unmatched connection that winds through all aspects of the participants lives. Handfasting is traditionally comprised of two ceremonies--the initial handfasting, and a confirmation one year and one day later. It is the newlyweds' hope that we might all celebrate together in November of 2022, similar to what was originally planned, while they confirm their marriage.
Halloween is the newlyweds' favorite holiday. Over the years, they've celebrated it together in many ways--by partying (in true college style), by embracing their inner (and outer) witches with special treats and decorations and spellcraft, by honoring Samhain and observing the accordant traditions--but the day has always been about celebrating the weird and wonderful in life with loved ones. So in that spirit, when the plan changed with Halloween coming up, the decision was natural.
