Kendal and Natalie met in the Indian Woods Middle School lunchroom at the beginning of 7th grade. They "dated" a little in middle school, but things started to get more real when Kendal asked Natalie out freshman year of high school at a Shawnee Mission South football game while Natalie was sporting her band uniform. Their relationship continued to grow throughout high school. The real test came when they decided to go to separate colleges. Before leaving for college they agreed to remain as just friends, but as time would tell that did not last for long. The cheesy saying "Distance makes the heart grow fonder" proved to be true for these two pulling them back together after reconnecting during a fall break. Natalie decided to become a Kansas State Wildcat with Kendal their sophomore year of college ending the long-distance and bringing them even closer together. After graduating from college Natalie and Kendal moved back to Overland Park, KS both very eager to start the next chapter in their lives. On May 23rd, 2019 Kendal took Natalie on a romantic date to a restaurant overlooking the beach while on vacation in Hawaii. After dinner, Kendal mentioned they should walk along the beach since the sun was beginning to set. While they were walking along, Kendal convinced Natalie to walk out onto a row of rocks that lead a little further past the beach. After walking out a couple of steps and taking in the view, Natalie wanted to walk back as to not get wet. When she turned around Kendal was down on one knee and popped the question. Seconds after Natalie said "Yes!" a wave crashed into the rocks soaking the two of them, but nothing could ruin that special moment!
