Question

What is the venue like?

Answer

Our venue is new to the QC area and is called Shadow Lake. It's located on 144 acres of land that overlooks an offshoot of the Rock River. It is absolutely gorgeous but is entirely outdoors! Our ceremony will be located right on the water. Seating will be provided but the ground is uneven and may be muddy. The reception will be right next to the ceremony space in a large covered tent with cement flooring. The restrooms are located in an old refurbished train car and will be air conditioned. How far is the venue from the hotel?

Answer

The venue is about 20 miles (or 30 minutes) from the hotel, which is why there will be a free shuttle service offered for guests. If you plan to drive yourself, but end up having too much to drink, you are welcome to leave your car overnight at the venue and pick it up the following morning between 8:00-10:00. There is also uber in the area if you don't make the shuttle! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Are there bathrooms at the venue?

Answer

Yes! There are bathrooms onsite at the venue, however they are housed within an old train car. There are 3 stalls each for men and women and they are air conditioned. There will be a staircase to get to the bathroom, so for anyone needing something handicap-accessible there will be a wheelchair accessible portable bathroom.

Are kids invited?

Answer

Our general mindset is that if you want your kids there, we want your kids there! They are all invited! However, our wedding venue is not very traditional and will be entirely outdoors. The venue is located on many acres of land and is right along the shore of the Rock River. While beautiful, there is no barrier to the water so may be a concern for children. The restrooms will be air conditioned but will be located within an old train car. If you think your child will be safe and have fun in this environment, please bring them along! Please use your best judgement when deciding to bring your children or not, we're excited to see all the loved ones we can!

How will the shuttles work?

Answer

We will have 3 separate shuttle vehicles that will take groups from the Wyndham hotel in Moline out to the venue space in Geneseo. The shuttle for guests coming out to the ceremony will leave the hotel at 2:45 PM, so it can arrive on time for the 3:30 ceremony start. The shuttles will also take multiple trips from the venue back to the hotel when you are ready to leave. They will pick up from the venue at 8:00, 8:45, 9:15, 10:00, 10:30 and 11:15 will be the final trip. There will be enough space for around 20 people per shuttle so please plan accordingly.

Is there parking at the venue?

Answer

Yes, there is tons of parking available at the venue itself. If you choose to stay at either the Wyndhym or the Element hotel in Moline, there will be a complimentary shuttle to and from the venue provided. There are also ubers within the area.

Question

Should I rent a car if I'm flying in?

Answer

That is completely up to you! The local airport is close to the hotel and there are Ubers in the area. There will also be shuttles taking guests from the hotel to the venue and back, so it would be especially easy to go without a car rental if you're planning to stay at the hotel.
